The biggest World Book Day so far arrived with at Westfield on Thursday 7th March, with many of your most favourite characters making an appearance…and strutting their stuff down the Catwalk in our show! Lots of weird and wonderful photos have appeared in school, of students reading in unusual and extreme places, like flying through the air above a trampoline, and others showing pupils reading to a menagerie of many different animals!

Many of the different characters were seen all over school throughout the day following a trail of photographs of staff reading, but there was a twist; the staff had done their very best to disguise themselves, so students tried very hard to get hints from passing staff to help identify them! On their travels around the school, students also got to find out what their teachers and other staff like to read, as posters were put up on doors to show favourite books, authors and genres…and most of them couldn’t just pick one!

This year’s competition to make a ‘Story in a Jar’ had more entries than ever before…and there were some fantastic creations, and some very tricky clues. These are being used by different classes now, and will then make up a display in our beautiful library for all to see.

The theme of ‘Share-a-Story’ saw lots of different visitors in classes who don’t normally come to read with us, pupils from other classes and staff who usually work in other places, with one of the secondary classes sharing stories they had written themselves for their younger audiences.
