Individual Provision may be used to support pupils on roll at Westfield where there is a significant need and they struggle to access our usual curriculum. It is an option for a very small number of pupils. Where identified as a need, pupils have been able to access a bespoke curriculum consisting of both on-site and off-site provision if required.
Off-site individual provision has included:
Rylands farm (group or 1:1 sessions once or twice per week) where pupils can learn hands-on working with animals and machinery and also complete accreditation in Maths and English.
Equilibruim (1:1 weekly sessions) offering support in particular for social interaction and building self-esteem. Learning takes place in the local community working alongside one or two support workers.
Where pupils are unable to access the school environment (due to medical needs and/or high levels of anxiety) individual tutors have been matched with specific pupils to build on social interaction, self-confidence alongside a range of academic subjects and support through accredited courses (Entry Level Maths and English).
On-site individual provision may include:
Lego sessions (distinct from Brick-by-Brick Therapy) with one or two individuals on a weekly basis to focus on social interaction skills.
1:1 sessions with staff with a focus on practical activities (resistant materials, food technology, art, horticulture and construction).
