On Wednesday 15th March 14 pupils from Westfield were chosen to represent the school at the county cross country meet, which was held at the beautiful location of Upton Park Poole.
The pupils were split into four main categories: Under 13 Boys, Under 13 Girls, Under 16 Boys and Under 16 Girls.
When we arrived at the meet the first thing that all the pupils did was to walk the route they would be running and to meet the marshals (Bournemouth University Students) who would help them along their way.
Once all the preparation was done it was the Under 13 Girls to race first, then the Under 13 Boys followed by the Under 16 Girls and then the Under 16 Boys to finish it off. For every position the pupils finished they collected points towards the overall team. Westfield were crowned champions and each pupil received a gold medal. This was a great team effort but there were outstanding performances individually from Anya (Silver Medal), James (Bronze Medal), Logan (Silver Medal) and Ben (Gold Medal).
The moment of the whole meet and also for Westfield was when Ben joined the Under 13 race to help out one of our younger pupils. This was an exceptional example of sportsmanship and togetherness which we all strive for at our school.
