In the week before half-term we were lucky enough to have two visits from a ranger called Heather from Zoolab. She brought with her a selection of creatures that might live in the rainforest – including a giant millipede, scorpion, tortoise and snake!
Many pupils had the opportunity both to see these animals close-up, and to hold and touch those that it was safe to do so. There were some real “wow” moments when pupils overcame their initial fears to look closely at or touch one of the animals. Heather was exceptionally knowledgeable and we all learned a lot about the characteristics of the different animals and how they are adapted to their habitats. We were really proud of all the pupils and Heather commented on how brave everyone had been and on the excellent behaviour and questions – so well done all!
