On the 6th July, we hosted our annual school Sports Day. The day consisted of primary classes attending multi-activity stations around the school field in the morning. Stations included a running race, sack racing, egg and spoon races, dressing up race, obstacle run and a target throwing station. All of the stations were run by Westfield’s own Sports Leaders and with their help and support our younger pupils really enjoyed the morning. All the pupils received a sticker according to their finishing position and at the end of the morning all pupils were covered with first, second or third place stickers! The morning was enjoyed by all and there was even enough time to have the obligatory Parents’ Race, which was won by Mr Colebrook.
The secondary pupils had a similar set up, with activities based around the school. These activities consisted of slalom run, basketball, step ups, commando challenge, hockey hooting, standing long jump, new age kurling, rowing and wellie wanging. The pupils moved around the school taking part in as many activities as possible. New school records were made and broken during the morning!
In the afternoon the older pupils went out onto the field to play in a rounders style tournament. During the tournament we saw some exceptional striking and catching of the ball, as well as some other really enjoyable moments. At the end of the tournament the red group were crowned the Champions of Westfield’s Sports Day and everyone received a free ice cream. Overall, all of the pupils really enjoyed the day and they all took part; which was our main aim!
