Joe Skipper, winner of the Iron Man Challenge Weymouth Event, visited several classes in 
school the day after winning this incredible event. He explained that he had swum 4km, cycled 180km and then ran a full marathon of 26.4 miles – all in less than 8 hours! The children asked many questions about the event, his training and his high-tech bike that he brought in with him.
They discovered that each week he spends more time training than they do in school. Many of them were amazed by how light his bike was and how much it cost. They were fascinated by his drinking system and by how much he has to drink during the course of the race. One class was concerned that he would miss his dinner as he had spent the whole day competing.
Joe now goes on to train for his next Iron Man event in Barcelona in three weeks’ time. Everyone wished him luck with this.
