Dear Parents and Carers
You will have seen that schools are closing nationally due to the coronavirus outbreak. Some schools will remain partially open to children of key workers and for vulnerable pupils including those with an EHCP.
All of our pupils have an EHCP, but we cannot meet the needs of every pupil at this current time due to the impact of the virus on staffing levels. The Executive Director for Children at Dorset Council, Theresa Leavy, has agreed with all schools that the focus will be on those who are most vulnerable and at risk. That includes children with a social worker, who have a child protection plan or are identified as a child in need, and those who are looked after.
From Monday 23rd March we will only be open to pupils who fall within the groups described above. Further guidance will be given about key workers, but for now we understand this as:
- Those who work in the NHS or emergency services
- Those in the forces (army etc.)
- Those working in the supply chain (deliveries etc.)
- School staff
- Care workers for the elderly and vulnerable
- Workers in ‘critical infrastructure’
If you fall into one of these categories you will need to let us know.
It is anticipated that school transport will continue to operate for those children eligible to come into school, but we may also be making arrangements to use our own buses to collect some pupils. You will be contacted directly about this.
Letters for each family will be sent out tomorrow by email. We thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
