It was lovely to welcome pupils back to school last week and we were impressed with how quickly they settled into their routines, especially our new pupils who joined Westfield. We were also joined by some new teachers and support staff and gave them a warm welcome. Our new teachers are:

  • Gemma Wills in Chesil (Gemma was previously a trainee teacher with our TADSS alliance, so knows Westfield well)
  • Kelly Glover in Oasis
  • Elaine Barter in Weston (Elaine has also previously worked at Westfield)
  • Pete Scott in Overcombe

The sudden death of Her Majesty The Queen came as a shock to everyone. We marked the occasion in our virtual assembly on Friday, talking about her life, her personal qualities and what happens next. During this period of national mourning there will be lots of questions and information to digest. We are collating some of the thoughts and work done by our pupils into a Book of Condolence which will celebrate the Queen’s extraordinary reign. We hope to share this with you once it’s complete.

The funeral will take place next Monday 19th September and has been confirmed as a national Bank Holiday. Schools will be closed on this day so that all pupils and staff can observe this historic occasion. Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 20th.

On Tuesday 27th September there will be a parents evening giving you an opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher and their team. We’re really looking forward to seeing you all then. More details will follow shortly.
