Sixth Form General Election 2017

On Wednesday 7th June the Sixth form at Westfield held their version of the General Election.  We had candidates representing five of the major parties.  Students researched information, created posters from the information they gained from the manifestos and gave speeches to the rest of the sixth form.  Everyone was given an opportunity to ask questions and the candidates answered them beautifully.  We started the afternoon with an informative presentation on parliament by Nicholas.  Whilst some students went to our polling station others were kept occupied by an election quiz.  By the end of the afternoon all votes were in and counted.  Our Labour candidate won by a large majority.  Well done Marley!  Thanks go to all our candidates – Marley, Joshua, Toyah, Adam, Harry and Stephanie.  It was wonderful to hear our students talking to each other about politics and really engaging in the world around them.  Most of our 18 year olds voted on the election day.
