Westfield is a Silver Level Rights Respecting School.  The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) is a school based initiative based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Under this document (UNCRC 1989) children have certain rights, some of which you may be familiar with.
What the RRSA aims to do is to educate children and adults in schools about these rights and also the responsibilities we share in relation to these rights.

What this means at Westfield is:

  • Adults and students using a language of rights and respect when communicating, working, and learning together.
  • Explicit teaching and learning about what children’s rights and responsibilities are, backed up through cross curricular links across the school.
  • Exploring ways to help less fortunate other to enjoy their rights.
  • Moving towards a shared set of standards and values, documented within charters, which are agreed by both staff and pupils.
