Governors Meeting Update May 2013

One of the aims of the governing body is to achieve greater parental engagement and involvement with the school. One of the many strands we will adopt to achieve this, is to summarise the outcomes of the Governors meetings that are likely to affect you and publish them on the school website.

The Government through the Local Authority have now allocated funding for financial year 2013/14. It will come as no surprise that we will have less money to spend this year than we did last year.  We have managed to protect staffing levels this year but no guarantee can be given for the future. This means that all other budget expenditure will be extremely tight and will require careful monitoring.

The school are looking at different options to provide an improved provision for our post 16 students. This may involve moving the provision off site possibly to WeymouthCollege, while remaining under the direct control of Westfield staff. It must be emphasised that this is only one option and nothing will change until at least Sept 2014.

September will see changes to the school senior management structure, there will be greater integration between the Primary and Secondary elements of the school.  This blurring of the boundaries will help our students to develop at their own pace.

Finally what a fantastic month May has been for the school, congratulations to all who were involved in, the Albert Hall choir, the Ten Tors challenge, the launch of Air 107.2 and not forgetting the Westfield Stomp. How do we fit it all in!
