The meeting commenced with the election of Chair and Vice Chair of Governors for this school year, I was extremely pleased and honoured to be re-elected as Chair and welcome Richard Brind as Vice Chair, Richard takes over from Gina Ford who stood down as her term of Office as a parent governor ended, we thank Gina for all her hard work and wish her and her family all the best for the future.
The first meeting of the year requires the Governing Body to review all the standing orders and terms of reference which we operate under. We also discussed and accepted the College Improvement Plan which covers what we intend to achieve over the next 1 to 3 years. We first reviewed what we had set out to do over the last 12 months and I am pleased to report that we achieved or partially achieved over 90% of our targets. Key areas for the coming year include; further development of the Post 16 curriculum including development of the school bungalow, provide fully for the IT needs of all our pupils, full implementation of the new Safeguarding regulations, to continue to develop outstanding practice in regard to behaviour and develop and expand the work of the Teaching School Alliance.
We also discussed the findings of the Safeguarding Audit carried out by County Council Staff. The audit found that we had successfully implemented the new government policy with only a few minor observations raised. We are pleased to report that Safeguarding is effectively managed within the school.
It is now 3 years since our last Ofsted Inspection and hopefully we will be able to report a favourable outcome in the next few weeks.
