British Council eTwinning Project

Westfield has been working very hard to involve ourselves in our global community.

All classes will have the chance to participate in our partner school eTwinning group where we are linked with two schools in Georgia, one in Hungary and one in Lithuania. We will be sharing our celebrations of Bonfire Night and Christmas, as well as teaching our partner schools about the history, tradition and culture which surround these events in England. We will then be learning about their celebrations of Christmas (which differ from ours) and also some festivals which are particular to those individual countries. We hope to develop interest in other countries as well as tolerance and respect for difference.

Year 11 and Sixth Form pupils who are involved with the Shakespeare festival have a link with a French school in Rennes. French pupils will be shadowing our production of King Lear online through the eTwinning secure site run by the British Council. The French pupils will follow our production coming together and witness our performance. Westfield will then follow their production of part of Julius Caesar and offer support and advice about staging and production. We plan to meet up physically and stage a meeting of King Lear with Julius Caesar on London’s South Bank, outside the Globe Theatre in February 2018.
